Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.
-G. K. Chesterton
It's really about freedom.
Being good enough. Doing good enough. Having enough. Knowing enough. It's all really a freedom issue.
And who here doesn't desperately need a little more freedom?
Welcome to 31 days of Good Enough. I'm taking the challenge to write thirty-one days straight this month. I figured it wouldn't hurt to use this time to break some chains.
What is good enough? When is it not good enough? What about excellence? When is enough, enough? How do I know when I have given enough? When do I quit?
We have an exceptional challenge of living in a culture that turns the ideal into the expectation.
Perception is moving at the speed of light and reality is moving at the speed of sound. The messages are coming at us from an alternate universe so the bright lights of perception are burning us and the echo of reality isn't resounding.
A devastating mess of perfectionism and paralysis.
We feel tangled up in trying hard and never making a dent in the knots. We need to see a real picture of what good enough looks like. We need a thundering boom of reality to shake loose the bonds of the ideal. In fact, we need to draw our own picture. We need to make our own thunder.
So, yeah, this is about freedom. Join me?
"But he said to me, "My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me."
