Saturday we loaded the kids up in the car and drove East. Five months ago we lost our beloved Fiona, Russ's dog that became our dog, that had to be put down last fall. It was heartbreaking for all of us.
We weren't comfortable getting another dog right away, and we even toyed with the though that we might not be dog people. But we can think about that all we want, in real life, we desperately wanted a dog.
So we looked and searched and even got our hopes good and high only to be stood up at the last minute by our first try at getting a new puppy.
So we decided to keep out mouth shut as we drove out to a ranch in the middle of nowhere. The kids were baffled as we pulled up to the enormous barn and delighted when the rancher pulled back the stall door and feisty little puppies came bounding out.
There she was: Our little Copper. A beautiful red Border Collie girl waiting for us to take her home.
So I'm sure I'll do my best to make sure my Instagram isn't All Puppy, All The Time, but I make no promises. Not to mention, this is the first puppy I have ever been in charge of and it feels suspiciously like having a newborn at night and a toddler during the day so it's safe to say my brain isn't functioning on all levels right now..
